The Austin Healey Sprite 1

The Austin Healey Sprite I was a small English very simply equipped two-seater sports car, built from 1958 to 1961, which was offered for sale at the very low price of £669 at the time. The headlights make it clear where the nickname "Frog eye" comes from. How simple the car was can be seen from the fact that there were no doorknobs on the outside, no side windows and no locks; the doors could only be opened from the inside. A trunk lid to get into the luggage compartment was missing; the spare wheel and small luggage compartment were only accessible after removing the backrests from the seats. With its 43 hp 948 cc engine with twin carburettor and the low weight of the self-supporting body, it easily reached speeds of up to 130 km/h. It was therefore a popular weekend car and, because of the cheap spare parts, a coveted car among amateur racing enthusiasts.
