The little Ruddy Turnstone

The Ruddy Turnstone gets his name because he leaves no stone unturned looking for food among the rocks on and around the beaches and coastal waters of the Eastern shore of the United States. This one shown is an immature female and you can usually tell because the male is bigger and a brighter rust-red colored on the back. The adult male are only five inches at the biggest in size and the females are usually four to four and one half inches.
