Sometimes I feel that the world I awaken to nowadays is just a bad carbon copy of the one I once knew. Everything seems skewed and topsy-turvy. Up is now down and it's like standing in front of a circus mirror that twists and distorts. This is a gel pen drawing with color pencil on medium bond paper. It is another in a long line of Original Jones Art as he tries to get the feeling down in northwest Austin, Texas.

I like this one a lot. I love the upside down cloud which fits in with your answer to Sara. Not only that the cloud is upside down but also it's placement (way down). In addition, really like the nose! These are expressions I probably would never think to do in a painting even though I certainly agree with your description under the image.

Artist Reply: This is another example of a black and white sketch I decided to add color to, Ginger. I've been doing lots more drawing than painting over the last almost two years but when I decide to delve back into easel work, this one might make a nice transition to paint. My so-called 'method' is to try to tap into something a bit deeper than what's readily available on the usual pedestrian plane. In my drawings which serve as models for future paintings and, usually, 3D pieces, I try to pour myself out onto the paper and then study the result, somewhat like a Rorshach test. I'm not always successful but it keeps me entertained. :)

When did you start to create your unique style? Meaning, the faces, they are very representational, when did you start making faces I guess lol :D they are very awesome!

Artist Reply: The 'style' has been in development a long time, Sara. My work has always leaned toward representational just not faces per se. I will admit to being on a 'face' kick for awhile though not exactly the faces you'd see on a bus or a family gathering. Well, I hope not. :) (If you look through my galleries, you'll probably get some idea of progression over time.)

Nice & loosy goosey. More of the Sgraffito-like texture.
