Hedgehog Pumpkin

This was a school project for my daughter, but it was so much work that I consider it a work of art. Ha! The project guidelines stated that a pumpkin had to be used to represent the main character of a book. We went through her books looking for ideas. When I found the Hedgehog book I said, "Hey! A hedgehog is kind of round! Let's do this!" The stem made a good snout, and we used wooden balls with nails in them to attach to the pumpkin as feet. We soaked toothpicks in brown watercolor water for two days and then painted the tips white for the spines. It was sealed with two coats of "mod podge" which also gave it a shine. The hedgehog pumpkin won the prize for "Best Overall Entry"!

Very clever! My kids are grown now, but I still remember those school projects
