My view from a roadside gravel dump just off
the Gregory Highway, south of Charters
Towers in Northern Queensland.
I stopped here for the night, surrounded by the
cloying smell and eerie rumblings and howls of
nervous cattle in the surrounding bush. As the
sun dropped below the hills on the western
horizon, the sky lit up in a blaze of colour.
