This drawing is based on a photo image taken way back in October 1942. "Lieutenant 'Mike' Hunter, Army test pilot assigned to Douglas Aircraft Company, Long Beach, California." 4x5 Kodachrome transparency by Alfred Palmer for the Office of War Information.

Artist Reply: Thank you, cousin! I thought the photo reference was an amazing capture... I added just a bit of sepia tone to the pencil drawing to give it that older look.

Artist Reply: Thank you, John. My father-in-law served in the Navy back in those days. He's about 90 now. I hate to see so many of that generation pass away so quickly these days.
