MENNONITE HOME/BARN 1

The mennonite people were asked by the Canadian goverment to settle in southern Manitoba in the 1870`s . The land resembled the land in the Ukraine which was flat country with little access to wood and the winters could be very harsh with high winds and tempertures of -40f . The home connected to the barn was well suited to this weather . In the summer it could get really hot and a lot of these homes had a summer kitchen which wouldn`t heat up the home and was located in between the home and barn . LOCATED IN NEUBERGTHAL MANITOBA .

FASCINATING INFO AND PHOTO, DWIGHT. THANK YOU LOTS FOR THAT. AND VERY COOL LOOKING AND SEEMS VERY CONVENIENT ARRANGEMENT. THEY DID NOT HAVE TO GO FAR TO FEED THE HORSES AND WHAT EVER OTHER ANIMALS WERE IN THE BARN.

Artist Reply: Thankyou Sharon ! You`re right about the closenees being convenient but it was also safe in that during blizzards people would get lost and die .
