BACKGROUND NOTE: this image joins several others, here and there in this unsorted gallery, about the Purple Mountain and its dwellers. I'll try to get them together eventually, or numbered or something. I like each image first met on its own. So, here ya go . . . * * * * * Purple Mountain has many caves -- some very secret -- others public, often given a theme and name, as this one's entrance is decorated red for love. Many side caves branch from it, all dead-ended, and thus safe from becoming lost. Through many of the caves, as with the lovers' caves, shallow water gurgles through, its amplified echo joining or back-grounding whatever sounds their wooing might produce. -------------- TECHNICAL Williamsburg, Virginia, 2012, 16" x 10," Abstract, acrylic, canvas, cave, mountain cave, water flowing, dark, light, dark and light, red, purple mostly, white, Bruce Combs, Combs.
