Bruised Bloody Roses

Another experimentation piece... the sister in size and form to 'Daemon Saint.' This painted was painted on top of layers of other paintings that had been painted over. The original was one of my 'demon damasks' that I had disliked and painted over. Several times. I varied lots of different techniques from the way I chose my pallette, painting the face, use of mediums, and textures. I put a heavy layer of varnish on it, and it brought out part the pattern from my first painting, the demon damask. You can see it mainly on the face and shoulder, it's kinda gold and looks almost like a bruise. I was hoping this would scan well, and for the most part it scanned better than I expected! I think the part that took me the longest was what to put on her banner. I had been seeing a lot of 'tattoo' style art lately, and I wanted to try my style at it, and I rather like it. I think the 'try me' is fitting with her broken nose. ***Note Due to the fact that my former ISP was absolutely dreadful, I haven't been able to update DA since 'Daemon Saint.' However, during the wait of getting new internet service, I have seen this image on three different computers, and each one is dramatically different. My home tower PC (which I do all my scanning and editing with) does not show the 'glazing and texture' as much as others do. One of my laptops almost show the picture is perfectly photographed, showing every little detail. The other PC showed it half and half. So, I guess my point is, it is interesting to see how artwork shows up on different computers, with different callibrations (or lack therof). I wonder if callibrating my tower PC will even make a difference in how it is displayed? I really don't have a problem with the way it displayed on any of the PCs. I just found it interesting, and anyone should try and do the same with their own work. Anyway, I hope you enjoy
