High Flight

High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth? And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth? Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things? You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung? High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,? I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung ?My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . . Up, up the long, delirious burning blue ?I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace? Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —?And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod? The high untrespassed sanctity of space,? Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. — John Gillespie Magee, Jr Image recorded at altitude in the Golden Hour using Canon G11 – 1/2000, f/5, iso 80, wide angle lens 16 mm – three images of differing exposure -1, 0, +1 processed in RAW format using PhotoShop, Photomatix HDR Workflow Tool and my own proprietary image and layer blending thank you very much – I seem to recall wearing silk pajamas at the time if that helps anyone recreate my methods. Generally, I prefer to word my own commentary for my images, but on this occasion while working on this cloud photo I recalled the contribution of Flying Officer Magee – one of my own personal heros – and it seemed most appropriate – God Bless Us Everyone ~:0) VivaChas!
