Original and strong work!

I wish I could view this piece in person. Since I do some similar work I know it can lose so much in the "translation" from actual painting to digital image. Size can make a huge difference, details that cannot be easily viewed in this manner, etc. I am left wondering ... what is that teddy bear sitting in/on? Why is just the soldier's head showing? What (if anything) is the significance of the clock, and why is it so hidden? Is this meant to be "just" nostalgic, or is there a deeper meaning (my guess is the latter)? I'm guessing if I saw it in person, I could assertain (or at least guess) so much more ... Beautifully painted. Nice to see someone else doing similar work! :o)

Artist Reply: hey amy. thanks for your comments :) it's a couple months overdue for me to answer your questions, but even so, i still appreciate your thoughts. actually, in this case, it was simply a still life painting assignment, that was pre-arranged for the class. the teddy bear was placed on some type of wooden object. there were plenty of objects on the table, but i chose to only include the objects i wanted for color, texture, visual balance and cause i liked the characters, such as the teddy bear, soldier, etc.
