The gate that is visualized here is only wide enough for one person at a time to pass through. This represents how the narrow gate that leads to salvation is the gate of faith and that our choice to place our faith in Christ is a journey that each of us must ultimately walk alone. Like the turnstile in a subway, each person, one at a time, must insert his coin of faith in order to pass through and move onward toward his final destination. Joyfully, we then enter in to a city of millions of other Christians who have entered just as we have.
