Vinger-en-duimpie (Finger and thumb)

This plant resembles a small index finger and thumb - therefore the common name. These plants survive from utilizing the dew that comes in over night from the cold Benguela current on the West coast about 30-60 miles away. A closer look (right hand side of photo) will show the tiny dew drops

Lovely work! Thanks for the information Wia, I've never seen or heard of these before.

Artist Reply: I doubt if you will see them anywhere else Adrian since they are indigenous and it is believed that they survive due to the cold Benguela current (ON the West Coast adjacent to this arid region) that provides the moisture on which they thrive during the night.
