Ed Asner (1929–2021) was a beloved American actor and activist, best known for his iconic role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its dramatic spin-off, Lou Grant. Winner of seven Emmy Awards, Asner brought depth, humor, and humanity to every performance, later enchanting new generations as the voice of Carl Fredricksen in Pixar’s Up.
