I want to suggest here that the use of perspective, whether or not done consciously, is a vital part of Anneke’s process of gently introducing more abstract art into her ArtWanted gallery. Or perhaps that is just her increase in ability with abstract representation. One of the effects -- whatever the cause -- is to be training us, softly and gently, to see and feel the depth in abstract designs. I think that such enhancing depths and heights definitely contribute to the stunning effect of THE EIGHTH DAY. For me, almost without thinking, this striking painting evokes a strong emotional response of highs and lows. Thus, I stared with an awe that I imagine many of us felt, on first seeing this glorious new work on ArtWanted. With just a little serious looking and imagining, I think, one may see an obvious depth within particular units or groups, module-like throughout the whole abstract composition. I think that such techniques, founded in traditional representational compositions, contribute greatly, though subtly, to effective abstract art in general, and especially work “hand-in-hand” with the color arrangement. Just imagine if you wanted to paint a representational-styled sequel to the Seven Days of the Judeo-Christian account, what would, or could, you do? What real images, not already store-worn by tradition could be painted to portray world peace? Thus, I think that this topic, this painting’s major objective, lends itself almost by its nature as an abstract idea, to non-representational techniques. I have included before now some discussion about the “intrusions” of abstract techniques within Anneke’s predominantly realistic presentations that are relevant here. While commenting on some of the other fairly recent works of Anneke’s, I also discuss aspects of depth and their creation that I notice in most of the works in the top two rows of Anneke’s gallery. To study where and how Anneke some time ago began creating parts of a painting in much less sharp detail than the rest of it, a rewarding place to start is ROCCO, back on Page Five of Anneke’s gallery. I leave it for viewers themselves to seek further instances and how they enhance parts, and thus the whole of an image. Experiencing the joys of exploration and discovery, after all, constitutes one of the major fascinations of studying an excellent work of art: finding over and over something new within it. Thank you especially for this work and its commemorative and hopeful tribute to the ideal of World Peace, Anneke. May it be! Peace, etc., Bruce

Artist Reply: This painting is done totally without a plan! I had even forgotten that I made it months ago!:)) I just found it back. I'm surprised by your words, you see so much in it. I'm very happy with your comment, because I learn a lot of things from it that I didn't know about abstract painting. Your words are of great value to me, they inspire me to go on! Thank you so much, my friend, you are a great art teacher!
