Soft Morning LIght-BEST IN SHOW

The soft morning light filtering through the forest canopy in the river bottomlands got my attention. The trees were so graceful.Best in Show ; Ozark Pastel Society Pastel Panorama, Rogers AR Nov 2010.Pastel, 7&12" x 10",Uart sanded paper. Copyright: Julie Mayser

This has a very Southern feel to it, complete with the palmetto in the foreground. The composition is gentle and intriguing, a bit like the South.

Artist Reply: Thank you for viewing and for your lovely comment, David. Yes, this is the South... central Florida.

it has all of the mysteriousness of an M. Night Shyamalan concept drawing for a movie set of one of his lastest movies. I really love the green foliage at the bottom of the work.

Artist Reply: You sent me scurrying to Wikipedia to learn about M. Night Shyamalan... whom I had never heard of before. I am not much of a movie-goer. Thanks for the interesting and positive comparisons with a concept drawing for a movie! The foliage was a second attempt... the first foliage "grew" too large and bright and had to be eliminated. The second is more moderate and in keeping with the tenor of the painting.
