Acrylic and impasto on canvas board.
I want to share what I am learning as I paint these. When I painted this, apart from the reference photos for the poses, nothing else is anything like the photos. I kept in my mind some very important rules to stop me from making some big mistakes I've made in the past.
Rule One: keep it easy on the eye!
Rule Two: Keep the focus on the important parts of the painting and fade out the not so important parts.
I did have a Sara Moon (popular artist) type image floating around in my mind as I painted the spirit lady and so I knew I wanted to fade out areas around her to emphasise her beautiful face.
This work is very spiritual and ethereal which is what my work will always be in one sense or another.
