Great therapy!!! I need a counselor like U!!! How wise n comforting!! I will try to remember this!! I am doing the laundry just now n had to go down those steps of fear with trepidation all the while still wondering what might lurk at the bottom in the dark waiting for me...when it is late n no one is around...can't help it!! Maybe I need a big poster like this to put at the top of the stairs n down by the washer!!!
This has the careful quality of an illustration for a children's book. Nothing pretentious, but well down and easy to understand. Straightforward composition which leads into the principal figure.
This is just wonderful and a perfect depiction of a very common childhood fear but I love the fact that your monsters look friendly and cute. Love the lighting, the bunny slippers and the laundry basket at the top of the stairs....really brings back memories. (Although I still have monsters to fear!)
Oh, Laura does this image hit home! I was terrified of our basement as a kid. If I'd known the monsters were this cute, though, I could have saved myself some sleepless nights!
Very cute and effective. Depending upon the age category for children you're trying to market this to, perhaps you could make the piece, on the edges and up to the stairs, a little darker, value wise, to give the light souce more strength and to make the characters a tad scarier. Just a thought. nice work overall.

You've really touched upon the imagination of a child. It perfectly captures her emotions without being too scarey for a child's eyes. Such talent.David Holcombe 15 Feb 2005
