JOHN LENNON (workshop posterizing)

Acrylics on canvas 24x18 inches.

For accompanying music click on:

Andy Warhol's pop art style features high-contrast color paintings
and have captivated art lovers since the 1960s.

Posterization is an effect that uses a limited color palette.
A posterized image doesn't have subtle gradients or continuous tones;
as you can see there's no smooth transition from one color to the next,
but abrupt changes from one tone to another.

I tried to posterize OBAMA earlier, but as you can see, there's still depth and perspective:

I posterized a photographic image of John Lennon to give it a stylized line art appearance.
It's harder than you think to paint an image as flat as a pancake with no depth at all!

JOHN LENNON Posterized
Will be part of an exhibit at the Academy of Lifelong Learning
University of Delaware, Wilmington Campus
May 3 - 7, 2010
After the show this painting will be proudly hanging
in my daughter's and her future husband's apartment
in New York city, close to the apartment John Lennon used to live.
