Return of the Monarchs

Each year monarch butterflies travel hundreds or even thousands of miles on their paper-thin wings. Many other butterflies also migrate south for the winter. Yet only the monarchs return north each spring...(excerpt from Monarch Butterflies: Mysterious travellers by Bianca Lavies) It was fascinating reading and enjoyed painting these beautiful monarchs, whom I have always loved... :)

when I was growing up in new york we used to see loads of these,I never see them now in new hampshire and I miss them very much,this is a beautiful reminder and exquisitely done artwork!
