is this some type of parasitic tree that clings to and eventually overtakes the host tree? creating an intricate network of creeping branches while the tree within eventually dies from lack of sun and nutrition, leaving it hollow inside?? do you have more shots of it taken from further back? hey, you didn't happen to get an inside shot, did you?
sorry for the questions, cool tree!
Artist Reply: Thanks for your interest in this tree, Brandy. I am sorry that I cannot answer all of your questions but I think a good encyclopedia would help. This trunk is only one of about 50-75 connecting trunks of the same tree.
