Winsor & Newton and Sennelier soft pastels on Colorfix card, 14" x 20" his is a new commission I've just finished for Ron, friend of mine. His son, who was a Warrant Officer 1st Class (Sergeant Major), has just received the Queens Commission as a Captain. It is also his son's birthday, unfortunately the painting will not be framed in time for his celebrations but his Father is going to present it to him on his return from Afghanistan. Ron was delighted with the likeness and his wife, Carol, got quite emotional as she could see Ron's likeness in his son. I had a very small photo to work with and even after taking a photo of the photo I could not gain any real detail, so it was work with the photo and a magnifying glass.
