Artist Reply: Thank you. Most of this painting was spontaneous. The middle area with the grandfather clock and gardens was from research. I made up this painting as I went along. I seldom work that way any more but it's good to do so from time to time. It is also musically influenced, as most of my work is. Halfway through the painting I didn't know what direction to go in, so I listened to Pink Floyd and King Crimson then figured it out.
