There's an old folktale. Once upon a time, crow (or raven), was a shapeshifter. Someone was jealously hiding away the sun, moon, and stars from the world, and we lived in darkness. Crow (or raven) shifted into a white bird to steal them for all the world. The soot from the flame of the sun turned his feathers black. Acrylic on canvas board. Copyright Casteen O'Neill, 2007
