Closeup of the first ever Iowa Great Lakes Ducks Unlimited Chapter Gun of the Year Gun and Case. It was the brain child of gunsmith/ Realtor Barry Hanson and I. He donated the new Over-under shotgun to our local DU chapter. I striped off the finish created sum custom art on the show side of the gun. I also created a handmade case for the gun to be displayed in. the case is made of walnut and Baltic birch with gold trimming and lettering. This was a very labor and time extensive project. The final result was donated to Ducks Unlimited to be unveiled / auctioned off at our October 2006 banquet. The piece is currently on display at the winning bidders shop Doug Rickey of Bamed Sales in Spirit Lake, IA. Total time invested into this piece was over 500 working hours. copyright Joseph A.
