This reminds me of when I was young walking my collie down our country road in Geneva, Switzerland! Miss my collie and later the rotts we had here in the USA. Great shot!

Howdy, Great memories! It reminds me of my doberman named "Dobie"! I loved that dog. An Ex-Police Dog who had health issues. But he could play "find the gun" with my young son. And he loved to ride in the pickup and protect it! He was so kind, especially towards women. But he was awesome looking. I miss him. Great pic that jogs the "Man's best friend" memories. dan tx

Definitely my fave of all the pet/animal pix. Love the closeness, the strong perspective, the colour and the composition that plays on the rule of thirds. Very strong image.

the motion in depth passed very convincingly, Stefani! ..."over the great Grimpen Mire there hung a dense, white fog"...

Everybody is seeing this so well! As amply said already, this is not an animal shot! Even more than most of us freaks who are obsessed with the humaness of animals, what a basic human emotion is here in the call of distance, in the diminishing road. Oh, Sterani, the angle of the beautiful dog's head and neck (how many of us pet companions would have the discipline not to show the whole beautiful dog?!!), the colors, lighting, the slight, misty foggy haze taking-over down the road, the bluish road itself, so broken and rocky, the nearly-stripped trees and the weedy fern growth beside the path Autumn-leaf colored, finally the little jog way down the road as the trees lower and crowd-out the strips of dying wees to squeeze the road now only a path: everything adds and seems to work together to create realism and contributes to the mega-depth. What a perfect gem. Without the dog, merely another "everybody's" snapshot of your average forest path. I had called it Autumn befoe reading the title because of the leaves left on the trees and it all was just more life-like to me than a winter landscape. Even playboy Frank Sinatra -- whether or not you cared for his city life, few can deny his lively style of songs and singing of them! -- could not also ignore that basic tempting "call of the wild," "the greener side," "the lonesome train whistle," "the urge to hike an empty path even if it is ALMOST straight as far as we can see, the human drive older than our written history, to travel over the rainbow, to the moon, to the stars, to space. . . where no man -- no, nor woman, either -- has ever gone before! I'd better stop here. Thank you, Stefani. Peace, etc., Bruce

This is an elegant piece and the perspective is amazing. The dog is placed not to distract from the landscape, but also as a point of focus to add another wonderful dimension to this piece. Outstanding work. My pic of the day!! Is the dog a Great Dane?
Artist Reply: sorry for the late thanks. I was touched by the honor. Yes, ist was my Great Dane Girl Orka, who passed away beginning April. The lost was terrible. Now I have a French Bulldog puppy. You can see her in my portfolio too.
