Cozy In The Snow

One my personal favorites, this painting was done in Central Virginia. Following a substantial snowstorm, I found this old cottage tucked in the trees along a road I frequently traveled. Until that snow came I never saw the cottage. As the sun was rising the little house simply glowed as the clouds departed.

You have certainly mastered the medium. Your work is wonderful..... makes me want to dig out my pastels, but it would take years of study to achieve what you have with this portfolio.

Artist Reply: Linda, Thank you so very much for your compliments. Pastels are user-friendly, don't ever be afraid to dust off that old set of sticks and begin painting. It is amazing what one can do at whatever level they are. Best to you, Diane

Absolutely Stunning! Looks just as it does here in Northern Michigan.

Artist Reply: Northern Michigan? Oh my, I have a cousin who has a cabin there but have never seen it. You are so fortunate to have more snow than VA or NC (where I currently live) combined. I love to paint snow!! Thanks for your message.

I can feel the pervading stillness, hear the snow crunch under my feet... I can't wait to get inside and shake the snow off my boots and mittens, and warm up!

Artist Reply: Hi Julie, Your comment is so poetic! Thank you for that...it's what I love about the snow.

Let me add yet another "Beautiful." This is so realistic, I feel like I'm standing in the scene, about to go inside for a cup of hot chocolate. Every element of this picture is right on the money. Love the colors. Bravo!

Artist Reply: Mike, Thanks for your wonderful message. When someone can "feel" a painting (especially with hot chocolate) that means the world to me. Appreciate your taking the time to comment.
