Oranges on a Smudge Pot

Detail from my first smudge pot restoration. Smudge pots, or, orchard heaters were used widely up until 1972 when they were banned for causing pollution. They are still sitting around in some of the few remaining orange groves here in So. California. I clean out the oil, sandblast, grind and polish, spray paint, and then detail them with scenes from the history of the citrus industry, then put lights inside of them. Beautiful for gardens and even indoors. This particular one is actually sitting in the Mayor of Riverside's office. This is also my first painting ever. I had no experience with a brush at all...Now that I do, I love it.
