St Goustan - Port de Auray

"St Goustan" (2007, 10x14" watercolour) is a sleepy little port in Brittany, France, where we spent our last vacation. In the morbihan district, St Goustan seems little changed from a coupld of hundred years ago, and take away the cars and ice cream van and it isn't hard to see why. The whole two weeks in France consisted of the family spending days out, with me snapping frantically with my new digital SLR, and then sitting outside our caravan in the evening, the whole family painting. Well, I painted my watercolours, the girls and my wife painted their toenails! Believe it or not I painted 12 pieces in 14 days. Most of them are already on display on artwanted. This piece was purchased by a visitor to my office, at a time when I had a small exhibition on display in our on-site restaurant. An unexpected result!
