This beautiful bird was standing beside the pathway, I had been warned not to get to close, as it is mating season and these birds can shred a human body in about 10 min, they have claws as sharp and skilled as an eagle's talon. As I took this shot, the male came up behind me but to my delight was the perfect gentleman and let me photo both him and is mate. Cranes mate for life and the mating dance is much like that of 2 humans dancing, you have to see it to believe it. Taken at Ladner, B.C.

Artist Reply: This I am very very HAPPY with!! The past few days I have made some fantastic prints of this one. I think I have close to 30 shots of the cranes, but again only a few were worth it. I thought I had taken a full shot of them, have to go back and hopefully find them again. Would you believe its SNOWING out today!! YIKES

Artist Reply: I really had no idea what type of danger I was in, I thought maybe they would bite me, but I had loose clothing so I figured whats the worse they could do, it wasn't until after when I was looking up information on them, that I found out just how much trouble I could have been in.
