©Delores J. Knowles -- The morning sun caught the feathers on this male Anhinga just right as he was drying his wings after a swim in the pond. Unlike most other waterfowl, the Anhinga can swim completely submerged under the water as he searches for his next meal. Photographed in Lake County, Florida.

Super capture, Delores! I have viewed Anhinga's at our former residence in central eastern Oklahoma (near Ft Smith AR) .... they are very unusual in swimming with their back submerged in the water.John Fish 12 Jan 2008
