The Dark Side of Fear

I'm sure you are familiar with doctor's sticks ..You know , those they use to check your inside throat with. There are kids that afraid of doctor's sticks...I was such a kid...and believe it or not...I'm still afraid of those sticks. Almost a mission impossible to check my throat, at least with this kind of stick. As a kid, my children doctor , Dr. Vilsmerdorpher (not sure I write her name correct :-) many years ago, simply checked my throat without that stick. Most of the doctors I met after her , were patiently with me. The last time I visited my doctor...The minute I saw he come closer to my mouth with an UNFAMILIAR tool :-)... connected to a some kind of thread :-)),I asked him what is it..wait .. :-)...He said to me, it's only a thermometer , to check your fever :-)...Well :-)..that's OK !! :-))..And Roni , my doctor is truly OK, Although I prefer not to visit him. Basic photo ,the bottom one taken , Jan,2,08. The purpose of these doctor's sticks will be posted soon. To be continued... Thanks for viewing and commenting. Let us ALL be healthy ALWAYS... Erev tov, Nira my dearest friend. I know you gave me holiday from comments, somehow I felt an impulse to be here. I read your story and smile, and I know you just a little ;) And myself too, I was afraid also once, but I'm better now . By the way your children's doctor used to live at the same street that my cousin, the artist, Rami Meiri used to live, remember ? How are you and the kids ? Hugs, Ronit :)

Artist Reply: Erev tov my yakira...This is a surprise !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) Perhaps you felt that I'm getting ill, like Yarin I think...going to take my PROTEC KID PLUS SYR ORANGE...soon after this reply :-) . Yes...actually I totally forgot that Rami Meiri used to live the same street, I visited once his sister at his parents home to help her with an artistic project. I hope you are well my darling, surely we shall talk soon. Thanks for all your comments, I'm off to sleep early today. Love, hugs...Nira.

Upper image I see thorns sticking and convulsions (symbolizing the throat) which must reflect what you must feel when the tongue depressers (what we call them in the states).

Alberto D'Assumpcao 04 Jan 2008

Splendid work, Nira!!! I use them to mix the colours (hehehe!!!). The capture is simply fascinating: love that contrast and colour!

Artist Reply: Dear Alberto..Thanks for the advice...I may become more friendly with them,if I use them to mix the colours.. :-) I usually use brushes to mix colours...but now..I really have a lot sticks left after the project..this is an idea...THANK YOU, my friend..have a great creative day..NIRA

Hi Nira, had to laugh about your sticks! yes, I remember how my chidren does not like that either.I told them that are the same sticks with the icecream on but...they did not belief me of course. Wonderful work you made of this item!

Artist Reply: believe me, Annette :-) ..I laugh ALL the way of the process of doing this, but I don't laugh when my doctor wishes to check my throat LOL!!! ...And believe me, If you see me at doctor's check you will laugh also...And my kids were very much like myself, but they both learned fast...and I'm glad that they're not afraid of it no more. Although I believe that sometimes you must FACE, your fears..face to face, it's a fact, that until now..I'm afraid of those sticks. At least I can be proud of my achievement with cats :-)...Because I was REALLY afraid of cats as a kid...and sleep with them nowadays. Thanks so much...ENJOY YOUR DAY,Nira
