Windworks

The ridge above the cirque of Houken Dake was blasted by cold wind all day and night. Rocks facing the wind were coated with elegant and ornate ice sculptures such as this one. Needless to say, I was in heaven photographing up there despite the blasting chill wind.

a remarkable formation and design - beautiful capture of it - I see how you love snow

Artist Reply: Yes, I do love snow. I still have a hard time getting the exposures right with film. Digital makes that a bit easier because I can correct my errors on the spot.

awesome ! A very unique photo!

Artist Reply: Well, during the winter you can find these scenes everywhere on the mountain ridges. But this particular formation was special. Thanks, Kimberly.
