Autumn Leaf Ballet

The beauty of Autumn leaves dancing on air and ground, enchanting to watch. Something I never get tired of watching. The last dance of the year before winter comes to play, one last performance before retiring. This is a digitally painted work that is not a photo or photo manipulation. I used my electronic graphics tablet, a Wacom, and a wireless pen. I used the art software, Corel's Painter X to paint this. That means I drew it, chose the mediums, brush sizes, colors, mixed blends of colors, and did every brush storke. This is not the result of a program that auto converts the photo to a painting. I enjoy painting it myself and exploring what I can do and learn. I often use mediums mixes that you can not use together with real materials to get the look and results I want This one had oils, pastels, chalks, watercolor, and several other blends to get the texture it has. Often this means I wind up painting it with several layers of mediums to get the final results. Fortunately, I don't have to wait for the paint to dry, so can speed up the work. It still takes hours of work to complete it. I hope you like the reults of this one.

Truly magnificent photographic artwork. Very fine composition and technique. The perfect contribution to the Artist Group - Leaves.

Artist Reply: Thank you Lynn! I'm glad you like this leaf painting. It took forever to get the details realistic, but it was worth the effort.

Fabulous capture Terry, excellent clarity and the colours are WOW!

Artist Reply: Thanks Kathie! When I paint I often try to get a realistic result, and this one was one that worked out well. The photos I used for references were ones I took, and I combined a few ideas to create this painting.
