This gardenia bloomed on my little tree on Friday. I caught the fragrance as I was entering my studio. I was looking for a glass bowl to float it in, when I spotted the pair of Riedel burgundy glasses that my son Danny gave to me for Mother's Day. Since they each hold 37 ounces, I knew one would be perfect to float the gardenia in, with the right amount of water to be able to view it from above and below. I just bought a whole drawerful of acrylics, so I decided to try them out with this painting. Next time the plant blooms, I'll try to paint it in oils. Jeanie, this painting is so wonderful. The shine and transperancy of the glass are beautiflly painted. I love the little touch of blue in it.
