Magpies are not easy targets for a camera! They love shiny objects though! My camera happens to be shiny enough to get their attention every now and again...but they are wily critters! This one must have been bored and when he saw my camera he began preening and showing off for me. I got several shots before he got bored with me as well, but only a few turned out. I think he was trying to make me drop the camera so he could make off with it. They are of the same ilk as ravens in that regard. They take things just for having, and they bury them if they can't use them. These birds will even find ledges and things to store bits of food in the wintertime.
