Two Cats in a Dream

Which way dreams do come? Fractured English describing fractured thoughts meshed together in deep repose. Spacious are the dreams I have while awaiting unexpected miracles in the night. Colors so bright, countless atoms exploded upon the stretched canvas of my sleep. Now they find their peace in the world of the awakened. With oils anointed from my palette brushed with sacred vengeance to appear in the world of the conscious. You, the viewer too, now see what I saw evenings past. What do you think it meant? What does it portend? Jung and Freud and all the rest could not put Humpty Dumpty back together again. So why try. So I think I will just paint what I saw and let the angels in my dreams play with my friends the Two Cats. My angels do enjoy the time they spend cavorting with my two friends in the playgrounds of my mind. And to you that travel with me, as I have said to many of my fellow pilgrims before, SPACIOUS DREAMS and UNEXPECTED MIRACLES ALWAYS! visionary imagist "Joey"

Joey, this is awesome. It has some Maxfield Parrish inspiration to me...maybe not. Love the text, too.

Artist Reply: Janet: i am glad that you noticed Parrish's influences in this particular work. Seeing some of his art in person has been a real treat for me. Thanks for stopping back over at my little gallery in cyberspace and if ever in the area visiting your friends in Huron do stop into my gallery in the real world too. again thanks!

A wonderful image...I think these two cats maybe symbolise a dual playfulness of the mind. The yin and yang. They had adventures as cats like to have. They go in the nightly world and let things happen.

Artist Reply: Gabrielle: Funny that you should sat Yin and Yang. i have several paintings regarding that theme. I'll post them someday. One of my favorite sages was an ancient Chinese philosopher Chuang Tzu. I am glad that you enjoyed my work. I really appreciate your insights.

Joey, your work is unbelievable! It matches your imagination. You should be doing books with illustrations. Call them "In your dreams" a guide to expressing your dreams," or something like that.

Artist Reply: Merle: i have been working on my book with my illustrations. i hope to someday soon finish it. But i enjoy painting so much that i forget sometimes to stay on task. But I'll finish it in God's time i suppose. Thanks for sharing your insights with me I do look forward to your words!

I was playing basketball with a couple of tigers in a dream. After traveling inward on a spiral road in a cool forest. One grabbed my arm, but let go when I told it to. If I'm honest with myself, I can make the connections. I like what I've read of Jung. He described a cyclical sytem of learning from experience and conditioning that seems valid. I like what he had to say on alienation. Motivations are fairly simple. I think we tend to take ourselves as more complex than we realy are. You don't have to travel far to find everything you need, nor even most of the things you want. I sure am enjoying the journey though. I'm enjoying the view of your imagination in images and text.

Artist Reply: Timothy: i am older now and i hope just a little wiser. Your taking time to share with me does my heart good. I traveled far and wide and then returned to find that everything i ever needed was in my courtyard in the front of my very house. Timothy may you have spacious dreams and unexpected miracles always! See you soon.

Such a wonderful painting! dreams show us our way to go, gives the answers on all our questions, just let them pass by write them down and you will see the future and past in one. here a new world is born for you, it's about revealing to you.

Artist Reply: Annette: Your insights are deeply appreciated and i look forward to hear your words. Yes dream can and are a porthole to view the inner workings of the soul's journey. Again thanks for sharing with me

Anneke Hut 09 Aug 2007

I think it means that the cats are attentive and aware of remarkable events that might come up in the near future. And obviously they are curious and cautious at the same time. But to me this painting also means, that you must explode from inspiration when you have fantastic dreams like this. :) A very beautiful and impressive piece of art, Joey.

Artist Reply: Anneke: Spacious are the dreams i have. And fortunate am i to return with their permission to paint what i saw there. And fortunate am i to have comments from fine artists, such as yourself, to help encourage me to travel the path less traveled. Thanks for stopping in and commenting. do so again!
