Old Ruins

30x20x1.5" Exhibition Canvas, this scene depicts the old ruins of St. Hilda's Abbey, at Whitby, England. Folklore has it that Dracula was buried here, until the cliffs eroded, carrying his coffin off in to the sea below! (looking at the painting, imagine, the cliff is literally right behind you!). The abbey sits on top of a steep hill overlooking the historic quaint coastal town of Whitby, North Yorks, England (East Coast) The abbey can be accessed by the famous 199 steps.

I like this. I am interested in this subject. The light composure is very accurately depicted in this piece. You have talent.

I find there is a lot of drama in this painting (may be due to the contre-jour). Like it very much.

Nat, this is one of my very favorite paintings! I just love ruins and I love cemeteries. You've captured the very essence of what I felt when I visited your lovely country a few years ago. Next time I visit, now that I've met you online, dear friend, we will go visit these places together! Great job as always, Nat!
