The Price of Oil

As rum and the spice trade was the evil of another time, so it is with oil today. Wherever this black gold is found tragedy soon follows. The greed of a few has placed the whole of the world and all of it's inhabitants, large and small, aware and unaware, at great peril. This painting is my small attempt to shed light on this ever increasing problem of greed. Masquerading as oil, greed is greed, no matter what excuse it makes. Unbridled, greed will chase it's own tail in order to have someting to eat, consuming all of itself until nothing is left behind. It will never be sated. The hope is that a new religion, a new spirit. a religion of love will emerge and it's Holy Book will be the cosmos. visionary imagist"Joey"

Wow, Amazing work! The way this piece is put together, it's just awesome! when art has a meaning, and it speaks out to the viewer, then it is true art! Great job! By the way, I love your smokey grim reaper =)

Artist Reply: Annette:Thanks for your insights. My art is not meant necessarily to "match the sofa colors", my art, I hope, will make the viewer stop and think, reflect and ponder it's hidden meanings.
