Dick's Portrait

This is a comparison photo of the subject and his portrait. This portrait was sculpted at a smaller than life size and the photo shows their relative sizes. The sculpture was finished with a faux tan stone patina and mounted on a varnished wood base.

How long does it take you to do one of these? They are all fantastic.

Artist Reply: Thank you Nancy, for your kind words. It takes about two weeks to sculpt the clay. But the steps that come after take about two months. The clay must be hollowed out, dried out completely, fired, finished and mounted. Some of these steps entail a lot of waiting time. Do you have any advice for me that might help me find commissions to do sculptural portraits?
