amazing work

I understand what you are saying about loosing detail either thru scanning or taking a photo - I have the same problem. This is a lovely work, from what I can tell the detail must be awesome!

Artist Reply: it's funny but the more i experiment with the camera the worse it seems to get. i think i may be trying too hard;). thanks for looking in on my sight and your comments.

NICE CAPTURE!

I was told by one of my professors lately that a strong light source is the hallmark of good illustration. Rendered in a classic naturalist style with more than just a hint of scientific illustration plates. sort of like a relaxed Albinus - makes Peterson look like a weenie. scott jones

This image makes me see and feel the power of this bird.In my country it is one of our totems, and when we see somebody powerfull,we sey(he or shes just like this bird).I like it.......

Fabulous work, Sheila [where you live uses a slightly different name for this falcon; here we call it a Peregrine;] they were originally imported to this country from abroad I believe, and the name Perigrine derives from the word for 'abroad' as in 'peregrinations', [travels; mainly abroad,or far afield.]. Hope you are well: with regard to loss of detail; have you tried your local college scanner? :) Gwen.

Artist Reply: hi gwen, good to here from you. i'm really glad you pointed that out because that was my faux pas.it had nothing to do with this side of the pond but more to do with which side of the brain i was using. i have since corrected it. thanks again for your input. never thought to try the college scanner. great idea. thanks. sheila

Nice work and thanks for the compliment on mine. Suggestion.. take the original to your local Staples (if you have that or any other office supplier) and have them scan it (around here, they can scan up to 11x17). the quality is pretty good.

very well structured work.

We lose alot of the crispness and brilliance in some of the work we upload...I do digital, and much of my work is dulled when I upload taking away from the full impact of the piece. In any case those of us who have been around long enough can tell this is a fine piece of work. The Falcon is an awesome bird, and you did an excellent job on this one.

Artist Reply: thanks mark.your comments are greatly appreciated. it's nice to know i'm not alone in my frustration with digital cameras and computers coming together.

Such fine detail still remains and you've captured the spirit..almost looks like a mythological creature...Do you have a scanner?

Artist Reply: hi sara, thanks so much for your very generous comments. in answer to your question, no i don't have a scanner which would probably resolve the majority of my problems with the detail work. i've got about 7 more pics that i've finished in the last month and now my digital camera is fighting me every step of the way. i'm either going to kill it (never a good idea 'cause i know i'd live to regret it) or break down and get a scanner. any way thanks again.

Wow Wow Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! way cool!

Artist Reply: thanks tony,. it drove my crazy(not o big stretch) doing the feathers and yet i keep being drawn back to doing birds(like i said, not a big stretch to being crazy). i figure by the time i'm 90 i might just get the hang of it comfortably.
