ANOTHER ONE FOR RUTH, Celtic cat

I got terribly messy with this one, he's made from a sort of stone clay that i've added powdered granite dust, that glitters like real granite, and really took some mixing in!

Stone me Cathy; this is an awesome piece of art. Ideal for a dentists waiting room. That would make a few people nervous.

This is wild! When I build my castle I want you to do my gargoyles. I can see that you relate to the mythology. Great stuff.

Great embodiment of your concept, turning bas-relief and printed images into 3-d sculpture!

Artist Reply: Thank you Noah, Back in 1998,a lovely lady from Birmingham,Alabama, purchased several of my works from a exhibition I had in St Ives,Cornwall, Uk, One of the comments she left was`Great embodiment of your concepts' How weird is that!

Naomi Santiago de Malave 04 Apr 2007

cathy, where do you take your sculpture classes...it's awesome

Artist Reply: Hi there Naomi, Some of the Celtic designs are adaptations from designs that are hundreds of years old, found carved into ancient and hardly recognisable slab stones and in ancient holy manuscripts, I just got the idea that I would like to turn them into a recogniseable three dimensional form, that one could hold and touch! I havent had any classes, but I do have a understanding with wood, a good way to start maybe with soapstone(talc) it is very soft to carve into and produces some great results. Thanks Naomi.
