a moment of tranquility

This is a remake of one I did about 20 years ago.I've noticed a real improvement in my technique(at least I hope it has).I got really brave and actually added some colour to the eye( it obviously takes a heck of a lot to get me out of the box lol). Unfortunatly that detail was lost when I put it on the computer.I'd say there's about 40% overall detail lost on most of my entry's. Have to figure out how to get better image qualitly. The original is 8"x10" (20.5x25.5cm) The background is actually white and not as grey as it appears on screen.

Beautiful artistry!!!:)

Artist Reply: thanks for your comments dee. i sent this one e-mail to a friend of mine that teaches art and her only complaint was that she wasn't sure she was comfortable about the abrupt ending(pardon the pun) and now every time i look at it i second guess myself and think maybe she had a point and yet it had been a concious choice when i did the pic(i think i probably wouldn't have spent as much mental energy on it if she wasn't a teacher) so it's nice that someone sees it the wasy i did in the beginning. i really needed to here that from someone else who obviously has a great sense of composition. thank you again.

I assume you, like me, just use a digital camera to put the pictures on the computer. At least, this looks like some of mine. I have to play around with an image editor to filter out the dark from the photo, but it comes out eventually. You need more lights when your photoing it, I'd say. It also helps to do a black and white in it in the editor too once you've worked out the darker background. Otherwise its a good image.

Artist Reply: you got it. between me and my 16 year old finally breaking down and reading the camera's instructions we clued into this and were able to do some corrections on stuff added later. live and learn i guess. thanks for the in-put.
