Finally, A Break in the Trees

For 3 1/2 miles, this trail is in the forest and climbs the ravine between 2 huge rock faces. Then after a bit more forest, you see light ahead on the trail. I will never forget the first time we walked into the sun on the ledge at the top of the cliffs. We were both speechless!! (1st photo taken April 2004.) It feels so awesome to be above the White River Valley like a bird in flight. (Once a small plane flew by below us.) Sometimes we get up there and you can't see much because of the clouds....2nd photo. Both views show the lone tree out on the ledge that looks like it has seen it all....never give up, never surrender!!!
