onions

My second oil painting! Just warming up and trying to learn the medium before I do a portrait. I painted this for my little girl, she loves onions and even asks for them in restaurants. I think they are like foriegn food to her because I dont eat them or cook with them at all.

This is realy excellent work. I love the warmth and papery texture you got here.

Artist Reply: Thank you! Papery was exactly what I was going for!

This is a great study. Not bad for a second try. In fact, very, very good! Now all we need is a head of lettuce and a tomato and we'd have the most artistic salad ever.

Artist Reply: Thank you so very much!!!

Lisa, your onions bring tears to my eyes! (haha) The detail is exquisite. I agree with Ruth. You are a natural oil painter! I haven't been brave enough to try oils. I've always painted in watercolors or acrylics. Beautiful work.

Lisa...this is amazing!!! I kid you not...you are a natural oil painter!! Your realism and detail are excellent! I would probably sign with the burnt orange color or something a little lighter because you don't want it to stick out like a sore thumb but you do want it to be seen. Just my thought...

your work is amazing, Lisa. I'd pick up one of the medium hues in the onion for the signature.
