This Orthodox church in Bulgaria was painted from a photo provided by a Bulgarian friend, Ivan Serbezov. It is the Church of the Holy Virgin (Sveta Bogoroditza). It was built in the time of Tsar Ivan Assan II in Assenovgrad in the Rhodopi Mountains.

Nice! The tree vibrates against the sky. I love how the church is cradled by natural elements in this excellent composition. The river looks like a dove.
