lunar moth

This is a lunar moth barely an hour old. they come out of their cocoon in may and mate and lay eggs and die, in less than a week. their size ranges from 6 - 8 inches wide. most beautiful moth, color usuall in fall colors rust cream and black and rarely seen in day .The name is from the moon cresants on the wings and their night time action. From the time they come out of the cocoon they start fanning their wings to attract a partner.
