What a great expression & detail on this eagle,I really enjoy it on this watercolor canvas as well, the texture compliments your technique so well! Beautiful work!

Trine Meyer Vogsland 21 Jan 2007

I think your details, especially around the eyes are incredible. I do miss seeing size and something about what kind of paper etc since you have posted it for sale. this eagle of yours really inspired me because you have used the medium so well. I like how you made the basic shapes and parts of the composition more with washes and then added all those detail on top of that. I think this work shows Very good techincal skills

Artist Reply: Hi again, Trine! You're absolutely right---I suppose I should have put in the dimensions of this piece. 12" X 11" on watercolor canvas professional grade as well as professional grade lightfast watercolor pigments. :) Thanks so much for your detailed comments, (I just love these--they are SO helpful). :) -Kerra

What a spiritual rendition..As the eagle is used over and over in the Bible symbolizing Jesus...."as He watches over us all".....your capture of the "EYES" seeing and knowing all is simply glorious!!!!!

Excellent work Kerra, I love these majectic birds. You need to check out Renata's eagle.

Artist Reply: Okay--perhaps I should be better versed...what is Renata's Eagle? (hoping it's not something that 'everyone' knows about and I'm in the dark...). I looked it up in AW but didn't find it--I suppose I should head off to Google and search...oh yes, most definetly now--now I have to know what that is. :) Thanks for the comment on my 'American' watching. :) I appreciate it. -Kerra
Artist Reply: Okay...I found it, (duh!) Wow, her eagle IS impressive and I passed on a note to her, too. Thanks for sharing that--now I know I better get a better handle on those watercolors! LOL-Kerra

OUTSTANDING WATERCOLOR

Artist Reply: Loredana, thanks so much for your comment. :) This was a new piece for me--working on paper canvas w/ watercolors. It was quite different than what I'm used to, (usually 300 or 140 cold press watercolor paper)--so it was fascinating to see how differently the colors laid down. Now I know that 'layering' in washing on straight canvas is more than a little challenging. :) -Kerra

Kerra, a most excellent watercolor. Exquisite brush work and texture. Really remarkable. Have a gorgeous evening. Miguel

Artist Reply: Hey, there, Miguel! :) This was a new one for me--painting straight on canvas w/ watercolors. Whew! What a change from what I'm used to--layering is qutie difficult as the laid down dried wash literally washes off the instant I re-touch a brush to lay down more color. :) Hope your day is going great! -Kerra

Gerald Dextraze 09 Jan 2007

ouch! he looks agressive! LOL Beautiful art!

Artist Reply: Hey, there! Thanks Gerald for your comment! I'm so glad you said so---as that was the whole 'look' I was going for here. He is supposed to represent our American Guys watching over the badlands, (overseas), for the 'bad guys'. And yes, they tend to be just a tad 'angry' at times. Hope your day is going great! -Kerra

terry waites 09 Jan 2007

Excellent piece of work just love the expression on the face

Artist Reply: Thanks, Terry! :) This was quite a challenge painting directly on canvas w/ watercolor---I almost looked this aggressive trying to lay in details! LOL -Kerra

mary respecki 09 Jan 2007

very nice!. I really like the eyes. Keep up the good work

Artist Reply: Thanks for your comment, Mary! I appreciate the feedback--hope your day goes great! :) -Kerra

Anneke Hut 09 Jan 2007

Wow! This is really good! He looks so angry, great use of watercolours, Kerra.

Artist Reply: Thanks, Anneke, for your comment. :) I appreciate your feedback. This eagle, (America), was supposed to come off as very aggressive so thanks for letting me know he came across as such. :) -Kerra
