Purple Quilt Design

I was dreaming up a fantasy quilt design. I love purple, so I chose a digital painting of shades that I like. I manipulated and added effects to create this quilt like design. I would so love to have a real quilt with this design on it. I know I could transfer it to fabric, and then make it, but I'd rather be dreaming of new designs. LOL! I used muliple art and photo software programs to create this design.

This is beautiful! keep up the good work!

Artist Reply: Thanks Sylvia! I enjoy these designs. I am going to be ordering some cloth rolls that I can print on my new printer so I can make quilt pieces of some of my works. This one will be a beautiful one to use. I will be finishing up sorting and posting more designs soon. I'v been working on a large batch of them and just haven't had time topost them yet.

Very cool colors indeed, Terry!! Beautiful design!!

Artist Reply: Thanks Steve! I will have to work on more ideas and effects. I love using my own photos and digital paintings to create new works, like this one from them. Sometimes one element, such as the color of one will get me off and experimenting untile I get a new design , such as this one.

Terry, this quilt design is wonderful. Could be a true heirloom. Beautiful. Miguel

Artist Reply: Thank you Miguel! I will have to work on some heirlooms to hand down, and more to share. Been off from working with art a few weeks, but back at it again. Will post up some new work this week-end, if not before.

Part of what I did as a working artist was to take a concept design and make it work on fabric or in three dimensions. It is much easier to develop concepts until they have to work. When I was doing this we did not use computers and everything was done by hand. Yes, it could be done but, a year from now you could still be tweaking the final work. With the advent of computers we now have instant gratification. The thing is that when I see something like this, my mind starts figuring out how I would recreate this design on canvas, or wood, or metal and how large to make it.

Artist Reply: Thank you Stanley! I am so encouraged that you took time to remark, with your background. I envy that you got to do that line of art! I am always tweaking works, and often have dos=zens of versions of these. I post up the ones that appeal the most to me, unless one of my friends or family spot one they like more. Ilove that I can make these into quilt designs type works. I wam preparing some works to put together like that. I am going to do some sware ones to make tiles to have them printed on. I want to make a design tile quilt piece to put in my new home when I get moved in the next year. I will do some framed prints as panel works as well to display in my home. I may do some themed pieces as I have posted a few the past year here. THe first experimental ones and individual pieces are getting lots of interest. I hope to promote digital art to garner more support for the works. This is such a cutting edge field, many are so unaware of the variety of works, styles, and what can be done.
