This is an image in the keeping of the holiday spirit...it was inspired by the Celtic tales of the Holly King and the Oak King and stories of the Yule...According to legends the One king rules for half the year, and the other for the remaining half and they each represent the light and dark times of the year...Either way, each King represents different ideas. The time of the Oak King is for growth, development, healing, and new projects. The Holly King's time is for rest, reflection, and learning. I created this using 140# watercolor paper, watercolors, pen and ink and colored pencils...

Kind of a cross between the Michaelangelo depiction of God and Santa Claus! My Irish heritage is pretty much lost as I have never been schooled on the Oak or Holly King. So, thank you! Nice work!Maurizio Miele 26 Dec 2006
